Emerging Data Protection Trends and AMIGO’s Role in the Compliance Era

On April 22, 2025, in Ho Chi Minh City, the technology seminar titled “Data Security – Meeting Regulatory Requirements and Building Digital Trust” was successfully co-hosted by AMIGO and IBM Vietnam.

The event attracted a large number of participants, including representatives from enterprises, banks, and financial institutions, as well as leading experts in data security.

The Urgency of Decree 13 and Circular 50

As digital transformation accelerates, data has become a core asset for every organization. However, this also brings increasing challenges in protecting personal and sensitive data, especially as regulatory requirements become more stringent.

Vietnam’s Decree 13/2023/ND-CP is the first comprehensive legal framework on personal data protection, effective from July 1, 2023. It requires organizations to establish clear systems for data control, classification, protection, and reporting.

Following this, Circular 50/2024/TT-NHNN, issued by the State Bank of Vietnam, further defines security standards for the financial and banking sector. It emphasizes key areas such as data classification, access monitoring, audit logging, risk detection, and periodic compliance.

At the seminar, experts from IBM and AMIGO provided in-depth analysis of these regulations, their operational impact, and practical approaches for enterprises. The focus was not only on compliance, but also on leveraging it to build digital trust and gain competitive advantage.

IBM Guardium – A Comprehensive Solution for Modern Data Security

A key highlight of the event was the live demo and presentation of IBM Security Guardium, a leading global data security platform currently being consulted and deployed by AMIGO for many organizations in Vietnam.

Key capabilities include:

  • Sensitive data discovery and classification across databases, data warehouses, cloud environments, and applications.
  • Real-time access monitoring, with alerts for abnormal behavior to prevent data breaches and unauthorized access.
  • Automated compliance management, especially for Circular 50 and international standards such as PCI DSS, reducing audit time and cost.
  • Vulnerability assessment and risk analytics, with actionable recommendations and seamless integration into existing security ecosystems.
  • Operational optimization, minimizing risks and reducing long-term security costs.

AMIGO experts also shared real-world use cases from leading banks in Vietnam, demonstrating the platform’s flexibility and effectiveness in complex, highly regulated environments.
