VPS Securities achieved a 50% reduction in time-to-market and 99.99% system uptime after adopting the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform. This successful implementation has also removed security risks and manual workloads from their operations.
The project was executed by Amigo – The first Premier Partner of Red Hat and the only certified Specialized Service Partner in Vietnam. The goal was to comprehensively modernize the core trading system and realize the DevOps strategy of VPS, a leading securities firm in the Vietnamese market.
From Monolithic Architecture to the Decision for Microservices
Today, organizations face the constant demand to deploy applications faster and at lower costs. As applications become increasingly complex, they place immense pressure on infrastructure and IT administration processes.
As a leading securities firm, VPS offers a comprehensive range of products and services to both institutional and individual clients. The company recognizes that speed has been a critical factor in maintaining its top position over the past five years. However, its traditional monolithic core trading system has become a bottleneck. The complexity and tight interdependencies of open-source components make it difficult to implement new features, while manual CI/CD processes further slow down time-to-market for product delivery.
Mr. Mai Tat Thang, CIO of VPS, shared: “To maintain our market-leading position, VPS needed to shorten the time it takes to deliver new applications and features to customers. Adopting microservices architecture, containers, and enhancing DevOps skills was a mandatory step to drive growth and innovation.”
Accelerating Container Deployment with Red Hat OpenShift
Already familiar with OKD (the community version of Kubernetes), VPS sought a more robust solution for an enterprise environment. AMIGO, acting as a strategic technology partner, proposed the migration to Red Hat OpenShift.
Mr. Nguyen Thai Nguyen, CTO of Amigo, stated: “We recommended Red Hat OpenShift because it is the market-leading platform trusted by enterprise customers for containerizing mission-critical applications. Alongside the Red Hat Consulting team, we built a clear modernization roadmap for VPS.”
Beyond technology deployment, VPS received hands-on training throughout the transition process.
“Red Hat Consulting and the Red Hat certified engineers from Amigo introduced us to a new development framework and showed us implementation best practices,” said Mr. Nguyen Tat Dung. “We learned a lot through face-to-face collaboration with the Red Hat experts. The knowledge sharing was always practical and immediately applicable.”
With Red Hat OpenShift, VPS has achieved its ambition:
- Speed: The system cut time-to-market by 50%, with development cycles reduced to just 1-2 weeks, ensuring accurate and on-time releases.
- Stability: Availability (Uptime) was raised to an ideal 99.99% thanks to intelligent automated scaling.
- Security & Operations: Security risks and manual operational burdens were entirely eliminated through rigorously tested updates and direct technical support from AMIGO and Red Hat.
Expanding the Ecosystem and Preparing for the Digital Era
The migration to Red Hat OpenShift not only solves current challenges but also builds a solid foundation for VPS’s long-term vision. The next phase of the roadmap includes upgrading to Red Hat OpenShift Platform Plus to leverage two advanced management and security solutions: Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetes (RHACM) and Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security for Kubernetes (ACS).
Concluding on the project’s significance and future direction, Mr. Mai Tat Thang, CIO of VPS, shared: “At VPS, we look forward to a successful future thanks to our long-term strategic partnership with Red Hat and Amigo Technologies.”
For AMIGO, the VPS project stands as a testament to its ability to deliver world-class technology solutions – particularly in the financial sector, where precision, resilience, and reliability are non-negotiable. Powered by a team of deeply specialized, certified experts, AMIGO transcends the role of a conventional technology provider to become a trusted strategic partner – enabling organizations to scale operations, accelerate innovation, and sustain long-term growth.
